America's only national passenger railroad system serves the City of Alexandria at Union Station, 110 Callahan Drive. Located in the city's historic "Old Town" district and next to the King Street Metro, the station is open 6 am to 9:30 pm. Meatime, the ticket window is open 6 am to 9 pm. Visitors traveling from Washington, D.C.'s Union Station, 50 Massachusetts Ave. NE, can take Metrorail to Alexandria (Union Station to King Street). For reservations call 1-800-USA-RAIL.

 

Virginia Railway Express

The Virginia Railway Express also leaves from Alexandria's Union Station, 110 Callahan Drive, next to the King Street Metro. Commuter rail service operates Monday-Friday from Northern Virginia to Alexandria, Crystal City and downtown Washington, D.C. VRE offers plenty of ticket choices, from a single-ride ticket to a monthly ticket. For tickets, call the Commuter Store at 703/413-4287 between 10 am and 6 pm Monday-Friday.
