The John Yagerline Fall Lecture Series, named in honor of Alexandria's former town crier, highlights a variety of historical topics related to 18th-century life in Alexandria. This fall's series focuses on tavern entertainments. The lectures are open to the public and held Wednesday evenings. This year’s Heritage Trail Bike Ride honors the late Ellen Pickering whose efforts to establish a bike path in Alexandria along the Potomac resulted a major part of the Mount Vernon Trail. Meet at Daingerfield Island at 10 a.m. for a 10-mile guided tour, with a shorter 3-mile family ride to Founders Park and back.
